Government Relations & Public Policy
SCA promotes the important role that co-operatives play in Canada's economy and communities, whether meeting economic or social needs, or both. The provincial government is the main focus of SCA’s advocacy efforts related to policy, legislation and resources to benefit co-operatives, credit unions and support co-operative development, although SCA also advances issues federally, on occasion.
In conjunction with the SCA Public Policy Committee, SCA provides support to help its members advance provincial policy issues. We work in partnership with the co-op sector, to present a united front and achieve common goals in advancing public policy issues.
SCA Board members, staff and other representatives of the co-op sector may participate in government affairs activities such as meetings with Cabinet, or Ministerial meetings, to ensure that co-operative values and the needs of co-ops and their members are included in government policy and programs.
